Mosel river bend in Bremm
In the Eifel an Hunsrück for 350 million years rock-pleated mountain range
similar to the Alps. However, during a period of 180 million years these mountains again
leveled out. Through the ice ages a new transformation set in once again on the left and
right sides of the Mosel. The rivers dug relatively quick into the mountainside, Rhine and
Mosel ground away amazing, cutting valleys. The Mosel river bend at Bremm is a bizarre
spectacle of nature's elements.
 Cochem
The massive setting of the majestic imperial castle, Cochem, dominates the
city backdrop omnipresently. Directly behind the castle, the tower of the 'Martinskirche'
(St. Martin's Church) looms over the historical city with it's plentiful timber-frames.
The tower is the second landmark of this old, beautiful city. The appeal of a trip through
the wine- and vacation land of Cochem comes not only from the wonderful landscape and many
evidences of old culture, but equally in the reputation of the diverse culinary enjoyments
offered from the simple, romantic yet exclusive hotels, restaurants and wine taverns.

"Gasthaus Stahl is a real gem of a place, in that
wonderful, scenic location up in the hills above the Rhine, in classic tiny Dellhofen
village, yet only minutes away from the walled cities of Oberwesel and Bacharach, right on
the river.
There are enough castles and other places of interest within 30-90 minutes of
pleasant driving to keep tourists busy for a long time, but the serenity of the inn itself
is the best feature.
The rooms are so classic, yet they have all the modern touches we need. The
furnishings and atmosphere of the inn are from times we thought had gone past, and it was
great to just soak in the gemutlichkeit! ... "

The
old brick arch wine cellar of the Winery Stahl, in
which the wines are stored; the wine grapes are self-grown and the wines are self-made.
Wine tasting for groups up to 30 people in the brick arch wine cellar. You'll become a
romantic feeling with the lights off and set aglow in candlelight. "The wine tasting at Weingut Stahl is truly educational, with more
varieties of flavorful German wines than most Americans ever realize exist. I think that
is worth the trip in itself."

Trier
In 58 - 50 B. C. as Julius Caesar captured "Gallien", making the
Rhine the cast boarder of the Roman empire, he also subdued the "Treverer", a
Celtic tribe, which praised their ancient German descent and lived between the rivers
Rhine and Maas.
The ruins of the amphitheater at "Petersberg" (holding about 30,000 people) and
the massive bath palaces of the "Barbarathermen" in the vicinity of the Mosel
are eloquent evidence for the strongly pulsing life of the Roman Trier in the first
century AD.
This peak for Trier suffered a sudden interruption through the invasion of the Franks in
275. They broke through the "Limes", which was the Roman defense wall back then,
and left Trier in ashes and soot.Trier became the second Rome. Amphitheater and thermal
spas were reconstructed. The emperors palace (with its magnificent throne room, presently
the Basilica), the circus, and the preserved ruins of the emperors hall form a vast, group
of towering buildings in the middle of the city. Big picture

Burg Eltz
Eltz Castle is one of the most beautiful and best preserved castles in
Germany. It lies in a romantic setting surrounded by an unspoiled landscape, inviting and
majestic at the same time - like a fairy-tale castle come to life. You will find history
cast in stone and you will feel yourself immersed in the spirit of a past revived - a
fascinating view of the different ages of Western (Occidental) culture is waiting for you.
Eltz castle has remained in the possession of the same family for over 800 years. The
present owner of the castle, Dr. Karl Graf von und zu Eltz, known as Faust von Stromberg,
lives in Eltville/Rhine. The family has had its main German residence there since the
beginning of the 19th century
